Kent Police is launching a recruitment drive

Kent Police is launching a recruitment drive to add some special new recruits to its volunteer workforce.

 

 

The force is looking to recruit officers to the Special Constabulary; volunteers who offer up their time, unpaid, to contribute towards policing in Kent.

Card retaining device on ATM – Tunbridge Wells

Two men were arrested by officers in Tunbridge Wells on Friday 3 September after police were notified about suspicious activity near the Nationwide cash machine at Calverley Road.  A card retaining device was found near the cash machine by officers.

 

The men, 32 and 33, from London and Surrey were later given police bail while further inquiries are made.

Lead theft - Southborough
Police are appealing for information about the theft of lead from St Peter’s Church, Church Road, Southborough.
Firearms charge

 

On 1 September Gerrard Pollard, 45, of Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells was charged with possession of imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in connection with an incident at Grosvenor Place, Tunbridge Wells on 13 August.

 

Mr Pollard was bailed to appear before magistrates on 17 September.

Road traffic incident – A21

 

Police were called to road traffic incident at 7.35pm on Wednesday 25 August on the A21 northbound (between Morleys roundabout and A25 off-slip).

 

A silver VW Passat collided with the central barrier.  No other vehicles were involved and there were no injuries.  The car had to be recovered from the scene of the incident and this resulted in traffic being disrupted.

Drivers urged to take care on the county’s roads as rain heads in

Kent Police are urging motorists to travel with caution as heavy rain is due across the county throughout the afternoon.

 

Drivers are being urged to drive according to the conditions to prevent incidents on the county’s roads.

Theft of drain covers

 

Two men were arrested on 17 August on suspicion of theft in connection with two drain covers taken from Blackhurst Lane, Tunbridge Wells about 9am on the same day.

Christopher Stock, 19, of Wiltshire Way, Tunbridge Wells and Joe Saunders, 18, of Walnut Way, Tunbridge Wells were charged with theft and bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 3 September.

Careless calls cost lives

Lives across the county are being put at risk every day, because the 999 service is being abused, Kent Police has warned.

Nuisance calls made to 999 on a weekly basis include requests for taxis, chemist opening times and reports of lost dogs.

Public thanked following assault on police officer
Tunbridge Wells District Chief Inspector will be sending letters of thanks to members of the public who came to the assistance of a police officer when he was assaulted in the town centre in the early hours of Saturday 5 September.

Between 12.30am and 7.30am on Saturday 29 August the window of Childrensalon - in the High Street, Tunbridge Wells - was smashed.
