A brand new fleet of Arriva buses have been brought in to improve the town centres bus link.

The six new buses, which were launched on October 5, are not only improving the route for passengers, but due to their new environmentally friendly engines they are also helping lower emissions in the town.

They boast pavement level entrances, no steps inside and high visibility displays, making the service easy to use for everyone.

The buses will run on the current 281 route, which offers a convenient link for people who want to travel from the top of town, right down to the Pantiles and along to the Spa Valley Railway

Portfolio holder for planning and economic development Cllr Elizabeth Thomas said: ‘The new buses will be a great benefit to the local people and visitor to Royal Tunbridge Wells. We are particularly pleased with the reduction in exhaust emissions and access improvements that these buses have. We have enjoyed working with Arriva and look forward to our next venture together. ‘
