Memories of the murders of Wendy Knell and Caroline Pierce in Tunbridge Wells 20 years ago have been re-awakened by the news that new DNA evidence could finally bring their murderer to justice.

The Police now have the complete DNA profile of the killer.
The two murders occurred six months apart in 1987 and Police believe that both murders are linked. Since the murders were featured on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme the police have received more than 40 calls.

A number of items were taken from the victims, Wendy had her distinctive keyring and diary taken, and Caroline had her keys and fobs taken.

 

The facts are the case are:

Wendy Knell was found dead in her bedsit, in Guildford Road, Tunbridge Wells in June 1987. Six months later Caroline Pierce, who lived in Grosvenor Park, was attacked outside her home, her body was discovered on Romney Marsh. Both women worked in Camden Road, and they had both been sexually assaulted, battered and strangled.

Both Caroline and Wendy had their keys stolen

 
The Police have a number of new lines of enquiry and the case continues to be urgently investigated.
