launched on Thursday 23rd July, giving faster access to treatment.

The dreaded H1-N1 has suddenly hit the town of Tunbridge Wells, a traveller that has recently arrived back from the United States to the United Kingdom, has been diagnosed positive with swine flu.

Despite the fact that there are thousands of cases in North America, the situation in the United Kingdom is relatively low.

There have been over 100 cases of people with suspected swine flu investigated in Kent alone, but this confirmed case has brought home the serious situation that has developed in the area.

With many cases being diagnosed as serious across the world, this patient in Tunbridge Wells has been tested and has the been confirmed as having the unfortunate symptoms of H1-N1.

Although doctors and specialists have suggested that the problem is not that serious and that he has a mild case of the symptoms, the patient has been confined to hospital and will remain there under surveillance, those who have been in contact with the man are being followed up to ascertain that the symptoms have not been passed onto them and will be tested for the disease accordingly.

The (W.H.O.) World Health Organization has declared that the condition around the world is condition five, which indicates that the seriousness of the outbreak is not that serious as previously predicted, but it is certainly on the increase.

There have been many cases in Europe and across the world, this has made us fully aware of the serious consequences of the disease that has arrived nearer to home.

Although the situation in America is far more serious than in the United Kingdom, this recent casualty has made the situation a more frightening prospect for those who live in the town.

The condition of the man is said by those monitoring the patient, that it is a mild form of the disease, it none-the-less makes us more aware of the the fact that is is certainly heading for the county without any let-up.

We as citizens in the town and the county, should become more aware of how easily this virus can spread, therefore take alternative measures of how we as individuals can prevent this from affecting us.
