After the Lords Prayer was recited by those participating in this special occasion, the previous former Mayor Cllr Mike Rusbridge gave a short and heart warming speech, followed by his own personal welcome to the new Town Mayor.

Councillor Leonard Price was then sworn in, and signed the required official document acknowledging him as the new Mayor of the Borough of Tunbridge Wells.

Special Guests included the Oberburgermeister (Lord Mayor) of Wiesbaden, Germany, Herr Muller and his wife, who had travelled from their home town to be here for this special occasion, who were very warmly welcomed to the Borough by those in residence at the Town Hall.

The friendship of the these towns began many years ago in 1960, and twenty nine years later in 1989 the official friendship and charter was signed between the two towns, bonding a lasting friendship and uniting them together in friendship and community spirit.

The new town Mayor to be, Cllr Leonard Price was led in procession to the council chamber where he was officially adorned with the robes and regalia, thereby acknowledging him officially as the new Mayor of the Borough of Tunbridge Wells.
