Tunbridge Wells FC 5 v 2 Faversham Town - Saturday 27th October 2007
Kent

Andy Constable got his first goals, and Tunbridge Wells got there first win since September in this one sided encounter at the Culverden stadium.
The result was just the tonic that Wells had been looking for, after the 6-0 thrashing at Croydon the Saturday before.

The first half was an open affair with both sides creating chances, Faversham opened the scoring on 25 minutes, when a free kick was not dealt with and Jim Lyons netted. The lead only lasted a few minutes as Wells new boy Constable got off the mark with a fine header from a Sam Phillips cross.
Tunbridge Wells piled on the pressure and it wasn’t long before the Faversham back line was beaten once more, this time it was centre back Clayton Cooper who provided the finish. Like buses the wait for Constable’s second goal in the red of Tunbridge Wells wasn’t long, he once again scored a header right on the stroke of half time to make the score 3-1, and the result seemingly beyond doubt.

The second half started in much the same way as the first with both sides creating, and spurning opportunities, it was Faversham who once again scored the first goal of the half when on 65 minutes Gary Robinson, a second half substitute bundled the ball over the line.

Whereas in previous weeks Wells may have crumbled at this point, they seemed to find new heart, and after weathering some Faversham pressure they soon regained the lead.
Sam Phillips who played well all afternoon was the hero with a goal after 69 minutes, and what a goal it was! Struck from at least thirty five yards out, the ball dipped and curled on its way in past a hapless Faversham keeper.

If the keeper thought his day couldn’t get any worse he was to be disappointed in the 75th minute as Andy Constable did his best to match Phillips earlier strike with a wonder goal of his own.
The goal completed Constable’s hat-trick and capped a fine win for the Wells.

Martin Farnie, the Tunbridge Wells manager was clearly delighted with the result, “I am really pleased, it’s been a tough week, this week. Last Saturday where we were really poor, and Tuesday we were really poor again, we gave in on Tuesday night. We have had a good chat today, we got down here early and had a team meeting, cleared the air and we are moving on, it was a good result.”
Hat-trick hero Andy Constable was quick to praise his team mates, “It is always nice to smash a hat-trick, but the important thing was the performance was generally better.”
Sam Phillips who scored a fantastic goal was thrilled, "That is the best goal of my career, it was great to score it."

Tunbridge Wells are away on Saturday to VCD Athletic in the league cup.
