We managed to have a very quick talk to new Tunbridge Wells manager Mike Robbins following his appointment. When I asked what he saw as the things he needed to do to take the club forward the response was measured, “Obviously the first thing I need to do is get the players confidence up, we need to put some basic principles in place and encourage competition throughout the club. Bring the club itself together, make sure there is competition for places, even if players are in the youth team the door is not shut if the players are good enough. Basically bring a bit of a smile to the place, the club wants some success and it is going to be my job to build up to success slowly but surely. It is a case of putting building blocks in place, stabilising the ship, getting everybody pulling in the same direction, and hopefully that will bode well for the future. “ |

| When I asked if Mike was looking forward to his first game in charge he was very upbeat, “Yes, we are playing VCD Athletic, I watched them bet the first team a couple of weeks ago. It will be a stiff test, no matter what team they put out we will be up for the task, the cup gives us a chance to look at different players and see how they respond under pressure.” |
