Three tunbridge wells venues in line to be used in olympics
Kent

Three venues in the Tunbridge Wells area are gearing up for 2012 after they were named as possible training camps for the London Olympics.

The three venues, Bewl Water, Bedgebury Pinetum and Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre were included in a list of possible sites to be used by competitors as training venues during the Olympics.

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure was ‘delighted’ with the news.

‘This is great news,’ said Cllr James Scholes. ‘It’s a real credit to the owners and managers of these facilities that the Olympic officials feel that they are good enough for the best in the world to train at. ‘

‘Having the Olympics in the country is great news in itself but for our own sports centre to be a part of this event would be good for encouraging the take up of sport in this area. We will ensure that those that use it will get the best welcome we can give.’ Cllr Scholes concluded.
