Tunbridge Wells Junior Sports Achievement Awards
Kent

On Wednesday 27 February 2008, Royal Victoria Hall in Southborough played host to a number of up and coming sporting stars. The annual Tunbridge Wells Junior Sports Achievement Awards ceremony, organised by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and the Tunbridge Wells Schools Sport Partnership, saw trophies awarded to winners and runners up in 11 categories.

The Tunbridge Wells Junior Sports Achievement Awards recognise those people who have contributed to sport, either through their own sporting success or through their work assisting others involved in sport. Selected nominees also received training grants to assist them with future competition and training expenses.

Sponsors of the awards include Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Tunbridge Wells School Sports Partnership, Buss Murton Solicitors, King Charles' School Old Boys’ Association, Daisy Fletcher, and Grays International.

Representatives of the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council's Leisure Services and the Tunbridge Wells School Sports Partnership judged the nominations, which included participants from 18 different sports including judo, tennis, gymnastics, diving, baseball, fin swimming, hockey and cricket.

Individual awards and certificates were presented by the Deputy Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Cllr Michael Rusbridge, Chief Executive of Buss Murton Solicitors, Stuart Burnop, Vice President of the King Charles’ School Old Boys’ Association, John Francis, Richard Brooks from Grays International, Daisy Fletcher, and Paul Willmott from the Tunbridge Wells Schools Sport Partnership.

Cllr James Scholes, Portfolio Holder for Safer and Stronger Communities, said:

‘All of the individuals and teams that were nominated for an award have made such an important contribution to sport and deserve the recognition that the Junior Sports Achievement Awards has given them. Congratulations to the winners, runners up, and to all who were involved.’
