Sponsors for Cycle Cuba needed
The crew and staff of Kent Air Ambulance have launched an appeal for local businesses to sponsor them on their first-ever fundraising challenge.
A team of 35 cyclists will be taking part in a 350km ride on the Caribbean island of Cuba on the 14 – 22 November 2010.

ELECTRIC FOREST PUTS BEDGEBURY TREES IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT
Visitors to Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest in Kent, will get the opportunity to see the trees in a whole new light this autumn, when a specialist visual arts team spectacularly transforms part of the woodland to create an ‘Electric Forest’ from 22 October until 7 November.
WARD WALK FEEDBACK EVENTS
Following the success of this years Ward Walks programme, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and key partner agencies will be hosting feedback events to share the findings with residents in Bidborough and Capel.
THE OLYMPIC CULTURAL BATON COMES TO TUNBRIDGE WELLS
On Saturday 4 September Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery will host the Kent Cultural Olympic Baton for one day. The Cultural Baton is an iconic Airstream caravan, which will be parked in Civic Way, outside the Town Hall, from 11am 4pm.
Council improves services, with decrease in complaints
Independently chaired watchdog, Tunbridge Wells Borough Councils Standards Committee reported a 78% decrease in complaints against elected members, in their Annual Report 2009/10, published recently.

Bids close for Tunbridge Wells cinema site
Bids for the cinema site in Tunbridge Wells officially closed today. The site was placed on the market in May 2010 and, since that time, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has been considering whether or not to submit a bid.

Rare finds on Mini Beast Safaris
A rare and endangered species was discovered on one of Tunbridge Wells Museums mini beast safaris. Amongst other unusual creatures, children and accompanying adults who participated in the safaris discovered the Scarce Beaked Hoverfly, a local treasure.

The Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, is pleased to announce that, in response to customer feedback; it is including several drama performances in its 2009-2010 Autumn/Winter programme. The drama season kicks off with Agatha Christies Murder on Air from Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 September.
RETAILERS ENCOURAGED TO HELP CURB UNDERAGE DRINKING
The Tunbridge Wells Community Safety partnership is now distributing buying alcohol for under 18s' posters for retailers to display in their shop windows. These free, A3 posters have been designed by the partnership to raise awareness about buying alcohol for minors.
WARD WALKS IN HAWKHURST AND BENENDEN DURING SEPTEMBER
Following another successful round of Ward Walks in June of this year, the scheme is now being rolled out to Hawkhurst and Benenden. During September, a team of interviewers, led by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, will be collecting views from local people about what they think of the area they live in and what could be done to improve it.
SPORTS HALLS TO RE-OPEN EARLY
The sports halls at Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre will re-open a full two weeks ahead of schedule. The first hall will be ready for public use again on Monday 31 August and the work on the second hall will finish soon after on 14 September.
ROYAL TUNBRIDGE WELLS CELEBRATES TWENTY YEARS OF TWINNING
This year, Tunbridge Wells will celebrate being twinned with the German town of Wiesbaden for twenty years. To celebrate the event, staff from Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery have worked in partnership with the Tunbridge Wells Twinning and Friendship Association to create a temporary display for residents to enjoy. The collection is on show now until the end of October in Tunbridge Wells Library.

FREE TEA DANCE TO CELEBRATE ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF BEING ROYAL
Royal Tunbridge Wells will be hosting a free tea dance to celebrate the centenary of its Royal Charter. The event will be held on 17 September in the Assembly Hall from 2.30pm until 5pm with the Mayor joining attendees for tea and cake at 3.30pm.
MOBILE GATEWAY TOUR IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER
Tunbridge Wells' Gateway's mobile units will be out visiting the more rural parts of the borough during September and October. The mobile units will be in Hawkhurst on 10 September, Cranbrook on 1 October and Paddock Wood on 6 October between ten and three each day. This will give local residents the chance to raise any queries they may have regarding benefits, leisure activities and general Council enquiries.
BEHIND THE MASK
Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery will be running Behind the Mask, a free exhibition, between Friday 18 September and Sunday 1 November. This varied show explores the mystery behind theatrical masks from all around the world and will appeal to art lovers and families alike.

LAUNCH OF HIGH WEALD WALKS SERIES
A series of free family nature walks has been launched by Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery. These walks explore different local habitats in the High Weald Area, which is classified as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The next two walks will take place on 22 August and 19 September.
