Make a difference day is organised by Community Service Volunteers and aims to encourage people to get involved in volunteering. Greg Clark was keen to echo this message, “Volunteering is crucial to so many charities. Make a Difference day is an opportunity for us to remind people how important volunteering is and to look at the range of opportunities there are for volunteers.”

Greg who is the shadow charities minister, was keen to get involved in the work of the shop and he was soon busy steaming newly donated clothes.

Barnardo's is a charity dedicated to helping young people, and like so many other charities they rely on the generousity of people to donate both goods for the shops to sell, and there time to enable the charity to run the shop.

David Booker, Head of Volunteering at Barnardo’s, explains: ‘Volunteering in your local Barnardo’s shop is of enormous benefit to the charity. Income from these shops is vital in maintaining our projects, which offer support to so many families living in poverty in the UK.’

Mr Clark had nothing but praise for the work of Barnardo's, “Everybody knows that Barnados does fantastic work with children, and the Tunbridge Wells store is thriving, there has been a constant flow of people in all day.”

CSV Make a difference day is Saturday 27th October, but people are being encouraged to try volunteering right up to the 3rd November.
