Tunbridge Wells Borough Council have spent the day (27th November) at the Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells finding out about the housing concerns of local residents.

By talking to local people the council hopes to be able to put together a clear picture of the housing needs of local residents.

Kathy Alcock a member of the Housing Services team at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council said, 'We are trying to find out about the areas of housing that people are concerned about in the local area. For instance new housing, affordability of housing, and energy efficiency.'

The survey is also designed to find out if people would attend an event the council are looking to hold in the Assembly Hall Theatre next year where information would be available on the issues highlighted through the survey and on related schemes and initiatives.

Participants in the survey have been given free energy saving light bulbs, which has been proving very popular!

With housing being such an important issue in the local area the survey could prove very important in guiding the council's decisions in the near future.

A decision on whether a public event will be held next year will be made taking the survey results into consideration.

Cllr Catherine Mayhew, Portfolio Holder for Housing, said, 'We are keen to get responses to our questions, to make sure that the event we are hosting responds fully to local people’s concerns and find out if such an event would be supported. We want to make the correct decisions on behalf of the people of Tunbridge Wells and need their valuable feedback to help us do so.’
