Local people in Tunbridge Wells town centre got a surprise on Friday evening when a brightly-coloured, 10 ft tall pteranodon arrived at the Museum and Art Gallery.
The pteranodon has been created by children at St Paul's Primary School, Rusthall, working with local artist Jane Churchill as part of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the discovery of dinosaur remains in High Brooms. The pteranodon is now hanging in the foyer of the Museum and Library building and will be in place to welcome visitors to the Museum and Art Gallery's summer exhibition, The Ballad of Big Al: A Walking with Dinosaurs exhibition, which opens to the public on Saturday 5 July.
The pteranodon was a flying reptile that lived around 65 million years ago and the piece of artwork has been created to be just bigger than life size. The colours and patterns were designed by the artists themselves.
