The sundial was a replacement for the previous one which was stolen in 2006.

The Mayor, Councillor Mike Rusbridge performed the unveiling ceremony in the presence of the Weisbaden girls hockey team which is on tour in the area.

The Mayor was very happy to see the new sundial in place, 'When someone gives you a gift and it is stolen you feel really bad about it. I am very pleased to see the new sundial here today.'

Michael Holman, Chairman of the Tunbridge Wells Twinning and Friendship Association said, ' I am delighted that the sundial has been unveiled today. It has taken two years to get to this point, the new sundial's size is exactly the same as the original, but this one is made from stainless steel rather than copper and brass like the original.'

Stephan, who is from Weisbaden and with the touring hockey team said,'For Weisbaden the link is very important and this is a symbol of that link.'

The Sundial itself is located next to the Police Station and has been put into place with a number of security measures designed to stop a repeat of the previous theft.

All we need now is some sun!
