It’s anticipated by John Laing and Gladedale that the redevelopment will create significant employment opportunities and generate substantial investment in the West Kent towns over the next 10 years.
The selection of John Laing-Gladedale from a shortlist of six developers follows the preparation of a brief by the Council aimed at boosting the local economy by enhancing the four town centres as places to live, work, shop and visit.
The 10-year development programme is aimed at revitalising the four centres and establishing the Borough of Tunbridge Wells as a major regional destination.
Cllr Roy Bullock, Leader of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council said: ‘We have been delighted with the quality of the submissions. Overall John Laing-Gladedale provided the best interpretation of the brief and responded well to all elements. We were encouraged by the attention they gave to all four town centres. Although the detail of the deal is yet to be finalised, we look forward to working in partnership with John Laing-Gladedale for the benefit of the residents and visitors of the Borough of Tunbridge Wells.’ |
