On Friday 6 June, Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery, in partnership with Tunbridge Wells Library, will be holding a Volunteering Open Day in the Art Gallery from 9.30am - 5pm. Visitors can find out about current Museum and Library projects and can sign up to take part.

Some of the projects which volunteers can take part in include:

· Helping out with pre-school art, craft and story-telling sessions at the Museum.
· Cataloguing and indexing material from the Museum and Library Local Studies collection.
· Interviewing local people as part of an oral history project.
· Being a Library ‘Web Wizard’ and helping people to use a computer.

Volunteers can be involved in sorts of activities

Volunteers play a vital role in making the Museum and Library a success. At present there are approximately 30, some of which will be on hand on the day to answer any questions and chat about their experiences.

People of all ages and backgrounds can become a volunteer and through their role can learn new skills, meet new people and have fun, whilst giving something back to the community.

Friends of Tunbridge Wells Museum, Library and Art Gallery, who promote support and assist in the improvement of the Museum and Library, will also be present at the open day to tell people about the benefits of being a Friend.

Volunteering Open Day is in celebration of National Volunteering Week, which runs from Sunday 1 - Saturday 7 June.
