Go!Cards offer people on low incomes the chance to get fit in the new year

People ready for that new look and a change in lifestyle but who are on a low income or receiving a benefit and are concerned they can’t afford it, should think again! The Go!Card, created by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, entitles cardholders to reduced rates at their local sports centres and theatres.

Anyone receiving a means-tested benefit such as Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Council Tax Benefit (not for sole occupancy) or Housing Benefit is entitled to a Go!Card, as are those on Jobseekers’ Allowance and full-time students over the age of 16.

Reductions are available on a range of activities at Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre, Weald Sports Centre, Cranbrook, and Putlands Sports and Leisure Centre, Paddock Wood. Examples of some of the benefits include swimming at £2.20 instead of £3.65; Fitness Studio sessions from as little as £3.40 instead of £6.80 and monthly memberships from just £19.80 instead of £34. Other offers are available on badminton, tennis, squash, fitness classes and the health suite.

Go!cards offer people on a low income the chance to afford to use local sports centres and theatres

Other benefits currently available to Go!Card holders include concessionary prices on selected performances at the Assembly Hall and Trinity Theatres in Royal Tunbridge Wells and the Queen’s Hall Theatre in Cranbrook as well as reductions on some activities for their children on the Borough Council’s Easter and Summer Holiday Activity programmes.
Go!Cards are available free to adults only by completing an application form from any of the sports centres detailed as well as the Town Hall Reception in Royal Tunbridge Wells and the Weald Information Centre in Cranbrook. Application forms should be accompanied by a passport-size photo and proof of eligibility (benefit book, NUS card etc.) and the Go!Card will be issued immediately. Go!Cards are valid for 12 months.
