Every business person knows that the link between qualified, confident workers and a successful business is a strong one. A recent treasury report has shown that workers who are qualified with the equivalent of four GCSEs or more are up to 50% more productive in the workplace than those without. However, despite these facts, there still appears to be significant gaps in the skills set of workers in the South East.
This is where Linking to Growth comes in. The project, run by the Learning and Skills Council accredited training provider NextStep, has just been launched in Tunbridge Wells, and is aiming to address the skills gap problem.
A team of progression advisors have begun to support local businesses in training staff, to help them achieve their higher qualifications. The project, which is funded by the Learning and Skills European social fund, offers a range of free services to employers, including progression interviews, advice on training, and support through progress checks, in order to ensure that training is as simple as possible for all involved.
For more information on the service, contact Ms Kate Copland on 01233 640 214.
