The nave and altar

St Thomas's Church in Southborough was consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1860, having been built with £2,400 provided by Mrs Sarah Pugh, who has a memorial in the sanctuary.

The original building has been extended over the years, the latest change being the creation of a nave platform and nave altar to bring the service closer to the congregation.

The church boasts a copy of Botticelli's "Our Lady of the Magnificat" which was presented to the church in 1923 by Mr Partridge of Oakdale.

St Thomas's is a Church of England Church and holds regular services, both on Sundays and throughout the week.

The church has a recently constructed parish room which hosts a number of groups throughout the week. This room is at present only able to be used for church functions, but the church hopes to be able to widen its use as soon as possible.

St Thomas's is committed to the Fair Trade movement. All tea and coffee served at church meetings is Fair Trade, and other fairly traded goods are regularly on sale. The Church also supports many missionary societies and charities, both in the UK and abroad.

St Thomas's is a friendly church catering for all members of the community. Junior Church meets during the Parish Eucharist in term time and there is a children's corner where the very young can take time out during the service.
