Kent Police is launching a recruitment dri

Kent Police is launching a recruitment drive to add some special new recruits to its volunteer workforce.

 

 

The force is looking to recruit officers to the Special Constabulary; volunteers who offer up their time, unpaid, to contribute towards policing in Kent.

Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA)

Kent Police is one of the top police forces successfully using the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) legislation to take criminals to court and seize, confiscate or forfeit any profits from crime.

 

In the final quarter of 2009/2010, Kent Police received £312,229 from the Home Office's Asset Recovery Incentivisation (ARIS) scheme. This was the fourth highest figure returned back to police forces nationally. For the 2009/2010 financial year, Kent Police received £736,369 from the Home Office ARIS scheme, placing the force eighth nationally.

Tonbridge residents agree their priorities
Residents of Trench ward in north Tonbridge recently decided that the priorities they wanted to tackle in their community were parking issues, littering and anti-social behaviour, specifically, nuisance bikes, dog fouling, noise, underage drinking, speeding, cycling on the footpath and cyclng without lights and football being played in inappropriate areas.

Careless calls cost lives

Lives across the county are being put at risk every day, because the 999 service is being abused, Kent Police has warned.

Nuisance calls made to 999 on a weekly basis include requests for taxis, chemist opening times and reports of lost dogs.

Theft of triple buggy – West Malling
Police are appealing for information about the theft of a three-seater children’s buggy, which was taken from outside a property in Ewell Avenue, West Malling. The buggy, which is black in colour, was taken from the front driveway of a house between 8.30pm and 10pm on Saturday 5 September.

A three day operation carried out by neighbourhood police teams in Paddock Wood resulted in six arrests and illegal drugs and property, believed to be stolen, being confiscated from addresses in the town.

Five warrants were executed by the officers between Wednesday 26 – Friday 28 August at residential and commercial premises.

Kent Police continue to drive down crime

Since 2005/2006, before neighbourhood policing was launched, Kent Police performance has improved in several areas.

 

The overall number of recorded crimes has reduced by 26,063 crimes, a fall of 17.7 per cent.

Two arrested for burglary – West Malling

A resident of Town Hill, West Malling reported a burglary at their home on Monday 27 April around 4.30pm.  The resident went into the house through the back door as someone went out of the front door.

 

Officers searched the area and following some initial inquiries a short time later two 17 year old boys were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

 

At the time of writing the teenagers remain in police custody
