Awards for West Kent Crime Prevention Champions

Six champions of crime prevention in the Sevenoaks district have had their hard work recognised at a prestigious annual awards ceremony.

They were among 18 individuals and organisations to receive public recognition for their work in reducing crime and the fear of crime at the North Kent Crime Prevention Panel's annual general meeting, held on 28 January 2010.

West Kent’s winners were:

· PCSO Angela Saunders, Swanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – nominated by Whiteoaks Leisure Centre for helping to reduce crime in the area

· PCSO Chantelle Trante, Swanley Neighbourhood Policing Team – for her work in primary schools in the Swanley area

· PCSO Supervisor Dennis Glasspool – for organising ‘Safe Plates’ events, where members of the public can have ‘anti-tamper’ screws fitted to their vehicle number plates free of charge, across the Sevenoaks district

Others presented with certificates for their work were Stuart Brown from the Co-Op in Edenbridge and two garden centres – Cooling and Polhill. All three were nominated for their support in hosting crime prevention events.

The awards, which celebrate the work of volunteers, residents and professionals in Dartford, Gravesham and Sevenoaks, were presented by Mayoress of Dartford, Cllr Jennifer Rickwood at the Civic Centre in Home Gardens, Dartford.
