Launch of ‘Urban Blue’
Wednesday 29th April saw the launch of ‘Urban Blue’, a double-decker bus with a difference. Instead of taking commuters to work, the bus will take a range of services to people across Maidstone and different parts of Kent. It is funded by NHS West Kent, Kent Police and the Government Office for the South East.

Fewer people were killed or seriously injured on Kent's roads
Significantly fewer people have been killed or seriously injured on Kent's roads over the last eight years, thanks to the ongoing hard work of all the organisations involved in the Casualty Reduction Partnership (CaRe).

Crime falls across county
Kent has seen a reduction in recorded crime according to the latest quarterly figures published by the Home Office.
The period October to December 2008 compared to the same period in 2007 showed all recorded crime in Kent and Medway dropped by 5.5 per cent to 29,122 crimes. At the same time, the detection rate has risen by 5.3 per cent.

Kent clampdown on mobilephone car chat
It seems that even though tougher penalties have been introduced on drivers using their mobiles whilst driving, the message isn’t quite sinking in. Nearly 70 people in Kent alone have been stopped since the new enforcements were introduced one week ago on February 27th. The fines have risen to £60 and three penalty points are added to the driver’s license. People are over-optimistic about their driving ability but we seem to have learnt that drink driving is dangerous. Why aren’t we listening now?
