'Why Weight' to lose weight for free
Swanley and Westerham residents who want to shift some pounds can sign up to a successful, and free, weight loss programme this month.
The Why Weight Plan has already proved a hit in Sevenoaks, and now Sevenoaks District Council is announcing the launch of a further two courses in Swanley and Westerham.

CCTV zooms in to help with nearly 600 arrests!
Sevenoaks District Council’s CCTV cameras have assisted police in nearly 600 arrests since April 2007 the latest figures reveal.
The 96 cameras, that monitor Sevenoaks, Swanley, Westerham, Edenbridge and New Ash Green, have already helped Police make 70 arrests in the period from April to July this year

Free musical helps older people beat bogus callers
Older people in the Sevenoaks District have the unique chance to see a popular musical performance completely free of charge next month.
Residents aged 60 and older can see the see the ‘Trickster’ musical performance at local venues in Edenbridge, Sevenoaks and Swanley. Trickster has completed over 400 performances nationwide to excellent critical reviews.

Young people can get their skates on for skateboard coaching!
Young people can get involved in an exciting one off project next month when skateboard coaching comes to the District.
The eight weeks of coaching is exclusively for 11 to 14 year olds and will be delivered by professionals from Skaterham Indoor Skate park at Swanley and Sevenoaks skate parks.

Update - Partner agencies respond to power cut in North Kent
EDF Energy engineers have worked throughout the night to continue emergency repair works following the fire, which caused serious damage to high voltage electricity cables in the Dartford area. This resulted in the loss of electricity supplies to close to 100,000 customers across the Dartford, Crayford, Bexleyheath, Erith and Orpington areas.

Partner agencies respond to power cut in North Kent
EDF Energy has identified the cause of the power failure and is working to restore power. At this stage it’s believed repairs will take between 24 – 36 hours (correct as of 19:00pm on 20 July), although power has been restored to some areas already.

Swanley play area cherry picked for 80k refurb!
Young people in the Swanley area look set to benefit from improved play opportunities after 80,000 worth of improvements were approved for a play area.
Cherry Avenue play area will receive the money following a successful funding bid from Sevenoaks District Council, who own the play area.
